Public feeds
Read a newsroom's published stories as JSON or RSS without an API key.
Every Prezly newsroom publishes its stories as a feed on its own domain. Feeds need no API key and return only what a visitor of the newsroom can already see. Use them to list recent stories on a website, syndicate to an RSS reader, or pipe press releases into another tool.
| Format | URL | Content type |
|---|---|---|
| JSON | https://newsroom.example.com/feed.json | application/json |
| RSS 2.0 | https://newsroom.example.com/feed.rss | application/xml |
Replace newsroom.example.com with the newsroom's custom domain or its prezly.com subdomain. Both serve the same feed.
curl --silent 'https://newsroom.example.com/feed.json?limit=5'What a feed contains
- Only stories that are published and public. Drafts, scheduled, embargoed, private and unlisted stories never appear.
- Newest first, by publication date.
- 10 stories by default, up to 100 per request. Use
offsetfor further pages. See Filtering feeds. - Stories in every language of the newsroom, unless you filter by
langorculture. - For a hub newsroom, stories from its member newsrooms as well.
The JSON and RSS feeds send Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *, so a browser can read them from any website.
One story as JSON
Story JSON is a different kind of document: add .json to a story's URL to get that one story, including its content, media and contacts. It isn't a feed, so the list rules above don't apply. It works for every story whose page can be opened, and it doesn't send CORS headers.
Feeds or the API?
Feeds are cached and limited to public content. A newly published story can take a short while to appear. Use the Stories API when you need drafts or private stories, story content in a specific format, structured queries, or results that are never cached.
