Categorizing your Stories
See how to add categories to your Stories to help visitors find relevant content
Classifying your stories in categories can help visitors find content that they are interested in more easily. If this feature is not turned on for your account and you are interested in using it, please check our Plans & Pricing page and contact our email@example.com if you'd like to upgrade your account.
Categories are not shared across newsrooms, so you will have to create a list of categories for each of your newsrooms.
💡Pro Tip: Although our system allows you to create unlimited categories, it is recommended that you should agree with your team internally on a set of categories that you should use for each newsroom so that you can keep your categories tidy and clean to help visitors locate information that they are interested in.
Select the newsroom you want to create new categories to, and access your Newsroom Settings page, and click on the option Categories
There, you can enter the category name in different languages by switching between them. It's not a must for a tag to present in every language. So if you just want a tag to appear in the English newsroom but not the Japanese newsroom, just leave the Japanese translation empty.
Then on the categories setting page, under each category, you can see which language(s) the category is translated into.
You can edit the categories at a latter time by clicking the "Edit" button
When creating a Story, on the left hand sidebar you'll see the categories you've created listed. Simply click on the category you want to add in the story and Prezly will link that story to the selected category.

A newsroom with enabled categories and stories in those categories will display a category menu bar where visitors can switch category.
Visitors can navigate categories using the top category menu, or by clicking the category names on every story card. Every category has a dedicated page such as /category/corporate or /category/press-release.
