A visual guide to media relations

Have you heard of spray and pray media relations? It’s an approach where you send your message to as many people as possible, hoping some will find it interesting. It might work, but it’s a bad practice that alienates most of the people that you contact.

There is another way though. We created a comprehensive presentation with hands-on advice on how to effectively share stories with your media contacts. It’s a primer for people getting started in the field and people that would like to freshen up their skills.

It’s about:

– Getting to know your contacts
– Creating rich stories
– Sending multimedia pitches
– Measuring results

I originally made this presentation for a masterclass Public Relations at the Thomas More school in Mechelen, Belgium.

Here’s are some impressions of that class.
