Power users spend an average of 15 hours per month using Prezly to connect to their contacts. That’s two full days of clicking around in our tool. Two full days of doing tasks that they probably rather wouldn’t do. To ease that pain we’ve been spending a lot of time with users to make the interface more efficient and pleasant. One of the first results that we’re launching is a better looking and more usable content management interface.
Better use of your screen space
One size no longer fits all. If you have a big screen you can see more content at once. Excellent if your are managing multiple press rooms for multiple clients.
A fresher look and feel
We made it big and bright and ditched the beige. These aren’t the seventies anymore. The content management system uses the fresh colors of the rest of the site and the typography is more expressive too.
Improved contact management
Now you can a save a lot more info about your contacts: language, address, telephone,.. And we’re just getting started here.
I’m excited about this release. Some initial feedback was that people feel that their task is more enjoyable. We hope that will be the case for you to. Enjoy!
Last week two thirds of the Prezly founders sat down with Gilbert West from the Tech Brew Podcast for a short interview. Gilbert, Gijs and I talked mostly about Prezly, where we came from and what’s coming up next. Check out the Tech Brew Podcast on http://techbrew.be/2011/10/tech-brew-episode-008-prezly/
Also, you might have noticed that we launched a new homepage last week. Exciting stuff! Thank you Liesbeth Pyck from Famous for gracing our homepage with a photo and testimonial.
So… what do you think about it? Like it? We sure do :^)
We’re constantly reviewing Prezly and looking for areas to improve our service. One part that we wanted to tackle for a long time is the emails that you can send to your contacts. They are very important because they are oftentimes the very first step in getting your stories out. A good email can make or break your release.
Together with certain clients we brainstormed, prototyped and created a new solution that’s both more complete and easier to create.
Your complete story is in the email
We used to show only previews of the images in your email. That approach turned out to be too limited. Now, all your media assets are listed in the email. Images, videos, attachments,.. This way your recipients immediately know which assets they can use to retell your story.
While we were at it we also pushed some pixels around to make the generic email design look even prettier.
Composing is easier
Before, when composing an email, you needed to select the images that you wanted to attach previews of. That design decision didn’t make much sense anymore. Why would you only show a few assets when you have many more, making your message more interesting to retell? Also, because we wanted to allow you to show more content (video, attachments, contacts) it would’ve become a tedious process to choose for each asset whether you wanted to include it or not. It would’ve made the workflow unnecessarily difficult. That’s why all assets are listed automatically in your emails from now on.
Give emails a try
Sending out emails to connect with your contacts is a feature available for professional users of our service with minimum a medium plan. When you send out emails you can easily track the behavior of your contacts: who opened you email? Who clicked to view more info on your press room? Who unsubscribed? This is one of key benefits of Prezly that allows you to be more efficient in your Public Relations. Aren’t you a professional user with a medium plan? Then be fast and get a taste of integrated email campaigns. The 10 first people to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org will get a one month upgrade of their plan so they can start connecting with their contacts even more efficiently.
Your browser refresh button is going to suffer hard from now on. We just released a mayor update to reporting in Prezly – showing live information about your contacts behaviour. It will be hard to refrain yourself from hitting the refresh button, waiting for new tweets and incoming links to show up.
We decided to invest more in reporting because measuring the impact of your press releases has always been a main goal of Prezly. We want your communication to be effective. So as from today clients with a medium or large account can immediately see on their dashboard what the response is to their press release emails.
The reports section has also had a complete overhaul: clients can see in more detail what the recent activity has been of their contacts. They can see who opened their emails. Who clicked to see the press release and who clicked which link. They can also see who tweeted about their press releases.
It doesnt stop there. More updates to the whole reporting section are in the making. We are working on improved integration of your contacts and of Google Analytics. We decided to already release this version of the reporting as it is a big step step forward for all our clients.
As always – we’re open for feedback on how to further improve. Just drop us a line.
Personalising the look of your press rooms just became a whole lot simpler. As from today all users of a medium and large account can style their press rooms by themselves.
The workflow is fast and easy : upload a custom logo and adjust the colors of the texts and links. The changes will be immediately visible on your press releases.
While we were at it we’ve also made sure that users with multilangual press releases can add company descriptions in multiple languages.
